The global transition to a sustainable energy system requires innovative solutions, and green hydrogen is increasingly recognized as a key enabler of defossilisation. At this side event to the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, the Academies’ initiative “Energy Systems of the Future” (ESYS) and the World Energy Council Germany will bring together scientists, policymakers, and industry representatives to discuss challenges and pathways for ramping up the global hydrogen economy.

Beginning with the case of the Colombian-German hydrogen partnership, the focus will then shift to a global perspective. Three short presentations and two panel discussions will provide insights into policy frameworks, technological advancements, international cooperation opportunities, obstacles and best practice solutions for scaling up the hydrogen economy. A networking session will conclude the event.

The panel guests are:

  • Yadir Salazar Mejia | Ambassador, Embassy of Colombia in Germany
  • Karen Peralta | Cámara de Hidrogeno ANDI NATURGAS
  • Rebecca Maserumule | JET-IP Green Hydrogen Management Office
  • Anton Mifsud-Bonnici | Adani New Industries Limited
